'Easter

Next week we enter the very special period of ‘Holy Week’. ‘Holy Week’ is a very sacred time of the year, for it is now that we will commemorate and remember the last week of Jesus’ life on this earth. As the Lenten season of sacrifice come to an end, we prepare for the great Easter feast to come.

This weekend we celebrate ‘Palm Sunday’, the final Sunday of Lent, which commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.

Today we held the ‘Stations of the Cross’ prayer service online. We thank Mr Hazebroek for organising this and all the students for engaging in the service.

Easter Raffle

Congratulations to all the lucky winners in the P&F Easter Raffle, drawn yesterday. With 68 prizes being awarded, many thanks goes out to the generosity of all families in the school who were able to contribute to the Easter Raffle through your donations, which made it a huge success.

Our sincerest thanks also goes to the P&F and parents for coordinating the raffle and for their efforts in collecting and packaging all of the raffle prizes, this was a huge task.

Interim Reports

Tomorrow, term one ‘Interim Reports’ are being made available to families, via SEQTA. The reports will give parents an indication about each student’s behaviour and effort for the term.

Overall, I am very pleased with the efforts of the students this term. The students have been able to remain focused and  engaged in their learning, especially during a term that has had a major distraction and some minor interruptions to the daily school routines.

I thank the staff for their efforts in completing the ‘Interim Reports’ and I encourage parents to speak to your child’s classroom teacher early next term should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress and/or effort this term.

COVID Update

COVID has continued to be present in our school community, with a number of positive cases being reported over the past week. I thank all parents who have been vigilant in being forthcoming with the school in reporting any positive cases, when they have arisen.

I am looking forward to the potential easing of some restrictions, particularly for parents, beginning next term. An outline of these changes will be corresponded to families prior to term 2 starting. A mandate that will remain for the unforeseeable future is the wearing of masks by students in Years 3 to 6; there is no indication that this will be eased any time soon, so I ask that students in these grades come to school in term 2 prepared, by bringing in an appropriate mask.

During the holidays, I ask that if any students do test positive for COVID, that it is recorded on the ‘Self Report App’ link below. This will certainly assist in keeping track of the COVID status in the school and will enable effective contact tracing of students in term 2, when continued positive cases are reported:

A reminder to families that if a positive COVID case has been identified in the household, it also needs to be registered with the WA Health Department, on the link below:

WA Health RAT Register

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me at school.

Congratulations, Amber!

Congratulations goes to Amber Reid, for her amazing efforts in raising over $1,000 for the ‘Starlight Foundation’. She raised this by swimming over 32 kilometres during the month of February, which is an incredible effort.

Crazy Clothes Day

It was great to see the staff and students support the ‘Crazy Clothes’ Day last Friday, by wearing their favourite crazy clothes to school. Some very creative and fun costumes were worn to school and all of the gold coin donations to participate were appreciated, supporting Caritas.

Term Dates

Term 2 begins on Tuesday 26th April, 2022 and concludes on Friday 1st July 2022.

Winter Uniform

With school starting back next term, the first two weeks of the term will be used as a period for students in Years 3 to 6 to transition into wearing the full school winter uniform by Tuesday 10th May 2021. Students in Kindy to Year 2 will continue to wear their Sports Uniform as part their uniform requirements throughout the year.

Please contact the office if you have any questions regarding the purchasing of the School Winter Uniform in readiness for term 2.

Principal Awards

Over the past week some students have been sent to my office to receive a Principal’s Award for completing some exceptional work. I congratulate Indiana Chalwell, Asia Brady, Rachael Gailey and Oliver Olsen, from Year 6 Blue, for their fantastic work in Mathematics. Well done and keep up the great work!

End of Term

As we come to the end of term 1, I wish the whole school community a very Happy Easter and hope you have an enjoyable holiday break. I look forward to seeing all of the students returning safely to school next term.

God Bless,

Daniel Gooch
