Principal's Message
Thank You
In recent weeks the weather has been quite extreme, with continued rain and strong winds. I would like to thank all parents and families for the extra care and patience shown around the school, particularly at the end of the day, to ensure the students have been able to exit the school safely. Whilst it has been great to have some sunshine this week, we are not quite out of the winter period just yet.
Dandaragan Drive Road Works
The school has received information that road works will begin on Dandaragan Drive, as early as tomorrow Friday 6 August. This will affect north-bound traffic, which be detoured for a period of up to 3 weeks.
Correspondence has been sent home to families today to explain the details of the proposed work. Whilst this is not ideal for our school, given the level of congestion currently being experienced, I hope the road works are completed in the time frame provided.
Capital Works Update
In recent weeks there have been several planned projects that continued to progress. Firstly, work on the southern side of the school has continued, with the sealed road being open to the public and providing access to families into the school. We are awaiting for the completion of the public footpath along this boundary, along with some short term parking signage to be installed before it can become a fully function drop off and pick up area of the school.
In readiness for this, Chris Salmeri is preparing the earthworks for the provision of a walkway, along with the installation of a boundary fence and entrance gates, to ensure a safe and viable entry and exit point for the school. Clearing and leveling of the site inside the school grounds is also being completed so adequate walkways can be installed.
Secondly, the school’s security is receiving an additional upgrade, with the installation of the Salto digital locking system being completed this week. This system allows for more control over access to the school and provides a higher level of security, particularly during times of emergency. All external doors will now only be accessible using the new digital locking system, with the manual key option being phased out.

State Cross Country Trials
Next week we have 7 students who will be competing in the State Trials for Cross Country. These competing students finishing in the first 3 places at the recent PSSA Cross Country carnival. The upcoming competition takes place at the UWA Sports Park on Thursday 12 August and we wish the competing students the very best of luck for this event.
Year 4 First Holy Communion
The preparation continues for our Year 4 students getting ready to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion with them participating in a class liturgy and retreat day, today. The students are to be commended for their recent efforts in attending the enrolment Mass last Sunday morning and we look forward to the receiving this very important Sacrament on Sunday 29 August.
Principal's Awards
This week some students have been sent to my office to receive a Principal’s Award for completing some exceptional work. I congratulate Sage Wiggers and Haze Reilly from Pre Primary Gold, for their fantastic work about the Olympics and Charlie Spicer and Marli King, from Year 2B, for their fantastic work in Italian. Well done and keep up the great work!

God Bless,
