Parent Teacher Meetings
Thank you to all parents who were able to attend the Parent Teacher meetings last Thursday. I hope meetings provided the opportunity to get an insight and understanding of how your child is progressing at school and got to discuss potential learning goals set for the remainder of the year.
A special thank you to all of our teaching staff for their efforts in preparing for and hosting the meetings. I would like to also thank all support staff in the school who assisted with the planning of the meetings and for assisting with the supervision of the students onsite.
100 Days of School
Well done to all of the students and staff who were able to get dressed up as a ‘centurion’ to celebrate our 100 days of school at St Damien’s. There were a lot of amazing costumes and ideas that certainly added to the spirit of the event. A special thank you to the P&F for their assistance in organising the day and for the generous gifts of three $100 gift vouchers, which 3 lucky students were drawn out to receive.

PSSA Inter School Cross Country
Yesterday we had 30 students from Year 4 to 6 compete in the PSSA Cross Country Carnival, held in Meadow Springs. I was fortunate enough to be able to go along and support the team and what an amazing experience it was. Apart from the many fantastic individual performances, all students ran to the very best of their abilities, giving their all for themselves and the school. Due to their wonderful efforts, St Damien’s CPS finished 6th in the ‘Overall Schools’ competition.
The students are to be congratulated for the way they competed and for their exemplary efforts and behaviour during the carnival. They are all very deserved of their success due to the hard work and extra training they have all committed to in the recent months.
Thanks goes to Mrs Chalwell and Mr Forrester for assisting with and supporting the team and to all of the parents who were able come along and cheer the team on.

Year 6 Confirmation Parent Session
Thank you to all of the parents and students who were able to attend the Confirmation parent information session and for their support and guidance of their child as they prepare to receive this very important and special Sacrament. To begin the session, we celebrate a Mass, followed by Mr Hazebroek giving an insight into the Sacrament of Confirmation and all of the important information associated with the celebration of the Sacrament. I also thank the staff in attendance and Fr Pat Rooney for celebrating the Mass with us.

Feast of Mary MacKillop
Next Tuesday, 8 August we will be celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Mary MacKillop. Students in Years 4 to 6 will be celebrating a Mass, beginning at 9:00am and the students in Years Pre Primary to Year 3 will be participating in a Liturgy, in the church, to acknowledge and pray for this special day.

Year 4 MCC 'Taster Day'
Next Thursday 10 August, our students in Year 4 will be attending a ‘Taster Day’ at Mandurah Catholic College. This day provides the students with the opportunity to get an insight to what Secondary School has to offer and to engage in some fun learning activities. We hope our Year 4’s enjoy the experience.
