Principal's Message
Green and Gold Day
Tomorrow, Friday 30 July is ‘Green and Gold’ day at St Damien’s School. This is a free dress day where students are encouraged to dress up in the colours of green and gold, to show their support for the Australian team competing in the Tokyo Olympic Games. As part of the day, students will get to participate in some games and sports in the morning.

PSSA Cross Country
Yesterday we had 30 students from Year 4 to 6 compete in the PSSA Cross Country Carnival, held in Meadow Springs. I was fortunate enough to be able to go along and support the team and what an amazing experience it was. Apart from the many fantastic individual performances, all students ran to the very best of their abilities, giving their all for themselves and the school. Due to their wonderful efforts, St Damien’s CPS won each of the girls and boys age group division teams’ events and also was the winning team of the ‘Overall Schools’ competition.
The students are to be congratulated for the way they competed and for their exemplary efforts and behaviour during the carnival. They are all very deserved of their success due to the hard work and extra training they have all committed to in the recent months.
A big thank you goes to Miss Sanders for her efforts in training the students and organising the team

Canteen Volunteers
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we are currently desperately seeking parental volunteers during the week in the canteen.
Tasks volunteers could do include sorting through orders, assisting in the preparing of lunch orders, selling items during recess and lunch, and so on. There is no limit on the time volunteers are required to assist; anything from one hour at the start of the school day onwards would greatly benefit the canteen managers.
If you are able to assist in the canteen in any capacity, whether it be on a casual or more regular basis, please contact the school office to discuss further.
Year 4 First Holy Communion
This week our Year 4 students receiving their First Holy Communion began their preparation for the Sacrament, by attending the Parent Information Meeting. As part of their Sacramental program, they will be participating in the Enrolment Mass this Sunday 1 August at 8:30am.
Next Thursday 5 August, the Year 4 students will be engaging in a liturgy and retreat day, as part of their preparation for the receiving of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We hope the enjoy the experience.

Bishop's Religious Literacy Assessment (BRLA)
Next week, students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in the BRLA. Practice assessments have been conducted this week, in preparation for the formal assessment being conducted.
The BRLA is an online assessment and we wish the participating students the very best for this.
Friday Morning Assembly
There is a whole school assembly this Friday 30 July, beginning at 8:45am, with the Year 1 class presenting an item. Parents and friends of the school community are welcome to come and join us for the assembly.
Principal Awards
This week some students have been sent to my office to receive a Principal’s Award for completing some exceptional work. I congratulate Noah Swiderski and James Robertson from 5G, for their fantastic work in Spelling. Well done and keep up the great work!

God Bless,
