Lent

In this third week of Lent, we learned how Jesus predicted his death and Resurrection. In this week’s scripture, we read about how Jesus overturned the tables of the merchants and the moneychangers in the Temple at Jerusalem. Jesus’ action at the Temple in Jerusalem is recorded in all four Gospels and is often understood to be among the events that led to Jesus’ arrest and Crucifixion.

During the period of Lent, we are asked to support ‘Project Compassion’, with donation boxes being held in every class. All donations, big and small, will be greatly appreciated by Caritas Australia. Some classes have started filling their ‘Project Compassion’ boxes with coins, which is greatly appreciated.

Inter House Swimming Carnival

Our school Inter House Swimming Carnival is taking place tomorrow, 1 March, at the MARC, for all students in Years 3 to 6. The students have been allocated events to swim in, based on the results of the trials held last week. A program of events has been sent to families earlier in the week, so please read this to see the schedule of events.

Parents are welcome to come down to the MARC, to support the students and cheer for their House factions, throughout the day. At the conclusion of the carnival, students are permitted to go home with their parent(s), but must be signed out with their classroom teacher prior to existing the MARC.

Parents will not be permitted in student section of the stadium. However, the students will be permitted to sit with their parent(s) during the lunch break.

The weather is looking to be a fine and warm day, which will be great for the carnival. I wish all of the students the very best and hope they enjoy the day as they try their hardest swimming for their house factions.

Thank you to all of the parents and students who were able to attend the Reconciliation Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday evening. We look forward to the preparation of the Reconciliation candidates as they get ready to receive the Sacrament in the coming weeks. Thank you to Fr Christian and Mr Hazebroek for facilitating and running the meeting and sharing in the celebratory Mass.

Unwell Students

There is a bit of sickness in the school at the moment. Please keep your child at home if they do have cold/flu symptoms or are unwell. Hopefully the long weekend could be a good circuit-breaker for unwell students to recover and return to school well again.
