School Video
This week we are very excited to launch our St Damien’s Catholic Primary School video to the wider community. The video shares and highlights all the wonderful things that happen within the school and celebrates what makes this such a special community.
The video was developed by a local videographer, who came into the school several weeks ago to capture the students engaging in many different activities. A special thank you goes to Mr Hazebroek for coordinating the production of the video and working with staff and students to ensure a lot of quality footage was taken.
The students got a ‘sneak-peak’ of the school video last week. I encourage you to go to our school website home page by clicking on the link below to view the fantastic video, and feel free to share with your family and friends.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teacher Interviews are being held today. I hope they are a great opportunity for parents to get an understanding of how their child/children are progressing at school and to discuss potential learning goals set for the remainder of the year.
100 Days of School
On Monday 31 July we will be celebrating our first 100 days of school. Students are invited to dress up as centurions on the day. The P&F are supporting this event with some prizes being presented to students during the day. Please read the flyer from the P&F for more information.
Year 6 Confirmation Parent Session
A reminder to parents that preparation for our Year 6 students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation begins on Tuesday 1st August, beginning at 5:30pm, with the Parent Information Meeting being held. We wish the candidates, families and relevant staff the very best as they journey through the preparation period of the Sacrament.

PSSA Inter School Cross Country
Next Wednesday 2nd August, some students in Years 4 to 6 will be travelling to Meadow Springs to compete in the PSSA Cross Country Carnival. We wish these competing students the very best and hope they enjoy the experience.
CEWA Religious Education Assessment (REA)
Next week our Year 3 and 5 students will be participating in the CEWA Religious Education Assessment (REA). Students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in the REA next Wednesday (Year 3) and Thursday (Year 5). Practice assessments have been conducted this week, in preparation for the formal assessment being conducted in week 3.
The purpose of the REA is to measure student learning of the content in the RE curriculum and it provides a ‘point in time’ snapshot of student performance in RE across the Year 3 and 5 levels. It is an online assessment where students’ knowledge and understanding of the content of the RE curriculum is assessed using a combination of multiple choice, short and extended test items.
Inter House Athletics Carnival Preparation
Trials have started in preparation for the Inter House Athletics carnival, happening later this term. Students are currently participating in the jumps and throwing trials, as part of their Phys Ed and Sports lessons. Students who miss the trials will get the opportunity to try out, with follow-up trials being conducted over the next few weeks. Next week the track gets marked and sprints and team games can be trialed and practiced. For your information, the dates of the Inter House Athletics carnival are as follows:
· Tuesday 22 August: Jumps and Throws Day
· Friday 25 August: Athletics Carnival Day
