Walk Safely to School Day
Well done to all of the families who were able to join in the Walk Safely to School initiative last Friday. The weather was fantastic and made for a very enjoyable walk to school.
Our participation in the Walk Safely to School Day was in support of the school’s involvement in the ‘Your Move’ Mandurah road safety program, which includes several schools in Mandurah and the surrounding suburbs.

National Simultaneous Story Time
The school participated in the National ‘Simultaneous Storytime’ initiative. All students gathered to hear the story, ‘The Speedy Sloth,’ read by our very own Mr Hazebroek. We thank Mrs Denning for organising this event and for the several staff who got dressed up as part of the fun of the story time.

5-A-Side Soccer
Today, a number of students from Year 3 are participating in the 5-A-Side Soccer carnival. This is a great opportunity for the students to get to compete against other schools in a friendly and fun atmosphere. We hope they all love the experience. A report about the success of the carnival will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
Extra-Long Weekend Approaching
A reminder to parents that the school will have additional closure days attached to the June long weekend, in a couple of weeks’ time. The school will be closed on Friday 2 June, with students returning on Wednesday 7 June. I hope all families enjoy the extended long weekend break.
Girls Dockers Cup Football Carnival
Next Tuesday 30 May, some girls in Years 5 and 6 will be travelling to Rushton Park to represent the school in the Docker’s Cup AFL competition. The girls have been training over the past few weeks, honing their skills and getting ready to take on other teams in the Mandurah area. We wish the team the very best of luck and hope they enjoy the experience.
Inter House Cross Country Carnival
Our Inter House Cross Country carnival is fast approaching, being held on Wednesday 21 June. Parents are reminded to make note of this date if you are wanting to come along and spectate the carnival.
Each Wednesday morning, at 7:30am, the ‘Runners Club’ has been going strong, with students from all grades across the school enjoying the opportunity to keep fit and to train and prepare for the upcoming cross country carnival. Any other interested students are welcome to join in.

During the assembly, the Year 6 class will be presenting an item as well as St Damien’s and Principal Awards being presented to the deserved students for their efforts and hard work over the term. All parents are welcome to join us for the assembly.
