Girls Dockers Cup Football Carnival

On Tuesday our Senior Girls football team, consisting of Year 5 and 6 students, competed in the ‘Docker’s Cup’ football carnival. The girls team was made of some experienced players and some players new to the game. During the qualifying games, the girls won 5 of their 7 qualifying games, just missing out on playing in the grand final by a very narrow percentage.

They defeated Halls Head Primary School in their final game, which meant the girls team finished 3rd for the carnival.

This is a fantastic achievement and the participating girls are to be congratulated for the way they competed and conducted themselves throughout the day and for the extra training sessions they did in preparation for the carnival. A special thank you to Mr Meunier and Mrs Chalwell for assisting with the coaching and management of the team and to the parents who were able to come along and support the girls’ team on the day; it was very exciting day and a fantastic result for all of the girls involved.

Extra Long Weekend Approaching

A reminder to parents that the school will have additional closure days attached to the June long weekend, in a couple of weeks’ time. The school will be closed on Friday 31st May, with students returning on Wednesday 5th June. I hope all families enjoy the extended long weekend break.

National Simultaneous Story Time

Yesterday the school participated in the National ‘Simultaneous Storytime’ initiative. All students gathered to hear the story, ‘Bowerbird Blues,’ written by Aura Parker, online in the hall. We thank Mrs Denning for organising this event and for all of the students who got into the spirit of the event by dressing up in something blue.

Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

Our Interhouse Cross Country carnival is being held next Wednesday 29 May. Information was sent to parents last week, via SEQTA, regarding next week’s Interhouse Cross Country carnival, including the schedule of times for each event.

This is a normal school day so students will return to class after their cross country race. Any parents wishing to take their child/children home after their race must sign them out with their classroom teacher back in the classroom. Students are not permitted to be signed out of classrooms then remain in the school.

We wish all students the very best for the cross country carnival.

School Disco

The school disco, organised by the P&F, is fast approaching. Tickets for this event can be purchased from the front office. Please read the disco flyer attached to the newsletter for more information.

5-A-Side Soccer

Well done to the Year 3 students who represented the school in the 5-a-Side soccer carnival last Thursday. All participating students did an amazing job playing as a team and developing their soccer and team skills.

PSSA Sports

Well done to our Year 5 and 6 students who competed against Pinjarra Primary School, last Friday. We had fantastic results across all teams and the students are to be congratulated for the way they played. Our next fixture is against Falcon Primary School on Friday 7 June.
