Principal’s Blog 22 February 2024

On this the second week of Lent, we are given the hopeful image of Jesus being transfigured before the eyes of Peter, James and John. This event encourages us all to pause and reflect on our own lives and faults and to look at the path we are on, and how does the lives we live lead us on a path to the Lord’s eternal glory.

During the period of Lent, we are asked to support ‘Project Compassion’, with donation boxes being held in every class. All donations, big and small, will be greatly appreciated by Caritas Australia. Some classes have started filling their ‘Project Compassion’ boxes with coins, which is greatly appreciated.

'Surf Online Safely' Cyber Safety Session

Last night, the school hosted a Cyber Safety session for Parents. The session was facilitated by guest speaker, Paul Litherland, who discussed the use, trends and dangers of the internet by our children and highlighted the main Apps children are using. He also provided some fantastic strategies for parents on how to monitor and support their child’s use of the internet and popular Apps and online gaming platforms. I thank all of the parents who took the time to attend the session; I hope you found the content and suggested strategies practical and useful.

I thank Paul for presenting his workshops to the parents at St Damien’s and also thank Mr Hazebroek for organising and coordinating this worthwhile event.
