PSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all of the students who competed in the PSSA Inter School Athletics Carnival, held at Mandurah Catholic College last Thursday. The students performed so well, winning the team games, handicap and overall championships trophies for the day. A lot of effort went into preparing for the carnival and the competing students are to be acknowledged for all of the morning and playtime training sessions they committed to ensure they were ready to give the athletics carnival their best effort.
Thanks goes to all of the staff who assisted on the carnival day and to those who helped run training sessions for the students leading up to the carnival. Also, a special thank you goes to the parents who were able to come along and cheer the whole team on carnival day; your support was certainly felt by the students.

Footy Friday
Tomorrow, Friday 22 September, is ‘Footy Friday’ where students get to come to school in free dress, wearing the colours of their favourite sporting team. The ice-bucket challenge that was planned for the day will not be happening, however families who would like to support the MND cause are welcome to bring in a gold coin donation.
We hope this is a fun event on the last day of what has been a fantastic school term.
Term Dates
A reminder to families that students return to school for term 4 on Monday, 9 October 2023.
Parliament House Luncheon
On Tuesday, some of our Year 6 Student Councillors got the opportunity to travel to Parliament House and be treated to a luncheon with our local member, Lisa Munday. The students were able to view some of Parliament House and sit with Ms Munday and ask questions and discuss all things about being in government and things that are important to them in the Dawesville community. We thank Ms Munday for the opportunity to engage in this event. While we were there, we also ran into the Year 5 students who were at Parliament House for a class excursion.

RU Ok Day
Last Thursday we held a shared lunch on the oval for ‘RU Ok day’. We hope all of the students and the parents who were able to come and join us enjoyed the event.

School Busy Bee
Next term we are having a Busy Bee in the morning of Sunday 22 October. Please put this date in your diaries and come along for an hour or 2 if you are able to help out. This Busy Bee is part or the Alcoa grant initiative, where a generous donation has been made to the school to carry out maintenance and improvement duties.
Dads of St Damien's Camp Out
The annual ‘Dads of St Damien’s Camp Out’ is on again this year, scheduled for Saturday 28 October. Please put this important date on your calendars if you are interested in attending.
Behaviour Focus
The current behaviour focus is for ‘students to remain in the Kindy area before 8:15am’. What this means for students who do arrive to school early, from 8:00am, they are required to wait in the Kindy area where they are supervised by a staff member, not outside their classrooms or around the school.
Term 4 Summer Uniform
Next term, students in Year 3 to 6 are permitted to return to school wearing their summer school uniform. The students have until the end of week 2 as a transition period before the wearing of the summer uniform is compulsory for all students.
Please contact the school office if you require assistance ordering or purchasing the school’s summer uniform, in preparation for the beginning of term 4.
Whole School Assembly
There is a whole school assembly being held this Friday 22 September, in the Steve Dowie Hall, with the Year 4 class presenting an item. The assembly will begin at 8:45am, with St Damien’s and Principal’s Awards being presented to the deserved students. Parents and friends of the school community are welcome to join us.

Parents are encouraged to visit the school’s term planner on a regular basis to ensure you are informed about upcoming events during the year. The term planner can be accessed by clicking on the following link: School Events Calendar
