Feast Day

Next Friday 10 May marks the Feast Day for our patron saint, St Damien of Molokai. We will be having a ‘Feast Day’ Mass at 9:00am, to start the day, to mark this significant event. During the day students in Pre Primary to Year 6 will be engaging in some ‘Buddy’ activities, as well as enjoying a free sausage sizzle at recess. The canteen will run, as normal, on this day and gluten free options will be available to those students requiring it.

Mothers Day Stall

Next week the P&F will be opening the Mother’s Day stall, for students to purchase a special gift for their mothers in preparation for Mother’s Day. The stall will be open on Tuesday 7 May for all students from Kindy to Year 6 and on Friday 10 May for students in 3YO Kindy. Gift items range from $1 to $7 and students are permitted to bring in up to $10 to spend on gifts.

The Mother’s Day Stall will also be open on Friday for 3-Year-Old Kindy and for the students who missed out on Tuesday.

We thank the P&F volunteers for hosting this event and making the gifts available for purchase for all students in the school.

Community Fun Day

This Sunday 5 May is the St Damien’s Parish ‘Community Fun Day’. Stalls will be opening soon after Mass finishing at 9:30am until 1:00pm and all families are invited to come along and enjoy some food and fun activities for the kids.

Grandparents Day

Last Friday we held our ‘Grandparents Day’. This was a fantastic morning and it was amazing to see how many grandparents, parents and special friends took the opportunity to come into the school and be part of the celebrations. The courtyard was full as we celebrated a Liturgy and we hope all visitors enjoyed the morning tea provided by the school.

Thank you to all of the staff for opening their classrooms, Fr Chris for celebrating the Mass, Mr Hazebroek for organising the event, the Administration staff for organising the catering and to Mrs Burns for her work with the choir and dancers.

We were truly blessed with wonderful weather and we look forward to this event happening again in future years.

Thank you to our Head Girl and Head Boy who laid a wreath at the Dawesville Dawn Service, on behalf of the school. The service was very well attended by the Dawesville community and a beautiful way to honour and pay respects to the service men and women who have gone before us

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder to parents if you have not been able to attend a parent teacher interview today, to please contact your child’s classroom teacher and make an appointment for a later date so important information can be shared about your child’s learning at school.

PSSA Sports

Last Friday our St Damien’s teams had a very competitive day, competing against South Halls Head Primary School in the sports of hockey, netball, soccer, volleyball and football. Once again, all of our students are to congratulated for the way they played the games in a truly fair and competitive manner.

Our next fixture is a home game against Ocean Road Primary School next Friday 10 May.

Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

A reminder to parents that our Interhouse Cross Country carnival is being held on Wednesday 29 May. Parents are reminded to make note of this date if you are wanting to come along to the carnival.

If you have any questions regarding the enrolment process of the school, please contact the office on 9583 2500.

Winter Uniform

Thank you for making the effort to ensure students in Years 3 to 6 have started this week wearing the correct winter uniform. This is our upcoming behaviour focus for the coming weeks, where we can affirm with students who are in correct uniform.

Holy Communion Parent Meeting

On Tuesday evening, Year 4 students and their parent(s) attended the First Holy Communion information and faith formation session, in the parish. I thank all of the families who were in attendance, as well as Mr Hazebroek, Fr Chris and the classroom teachers for assisting in the running of this session.
