National Simultaneous Storytime - Free Dress Day

Next Wednesday 22 May is ‘Simultaneous Storytime’. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

This year the students will hear the story, ‘Bowerbird Blues,’ written by Aura Parker.  All students are permitted to where free dress on this day, wearing something blue to celebrate the day.

Girls Dockers Cup Football Carnival

Next Tuesday 21 May, some girls in Years 5 and 6 will be travelling to Rushton Park to represent the school in the Docker’s Cup AFL competition. The girls have been training over the past few weeks, honing their skills and getting ready to take on other teams in the Mandurah area. We wish the team the very best of luck and hope they enjoy the experience.

Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

Our Interhouse Cross Country carnival is fast approaching, being held on Wednesday 29 May. Parents are reminded to make note of this date if you are wanting to come along and spectate the carnival. A note was sent home on SEQTA today with the timetable of events for the students in the school. Please note, if any students will be leaving the school after their event, they must be signed out from the classroom by their teacher.

Each Wednesday morning, the ‘Runners Club’ has been going strong, with students from all grades across the school enjoying the opportunity to keep fit and to train and prepare for the upcoming cross country carnival. Any other interested students are welcome to join in. Over the past few weeks the runners club students have been tallying their distance, which is currently sitting at a collective total of 297.6 kilometres.

Feast Day

Last Friday 10 May was our Feast day. To celebrate the day, all students first joined in a whole school Mass, followed by some buddy activities in the classrooms throughout the school. All students were also treated to a sausage sizzle for recess, to mark the day. A special thanks to Mr Simon Thornton, who assisted greatly with the BBQ.

Mothers Day

I hope all mothers in the school enjoyed a much deserved and very special Mother’s Day over the weekend. It was wonderful last week to see the Pre Primary Mums come into the school and be treated by their child, as part of the Mother’s Day celebrations.

5-A-Side Soccer

Today, a number of students from Year 3 are participating in the 5-A-Side Soccer carnival. This is a great opportunity for the students to compete against other schools in a friendly and fun atmosphere. We hope they all love the experience. A report about the success of the carnival will be shared in next week’s newsletter.

The enrolment period has begun for students beginning in 4-Year-Old Kindergarten for 2025. If you have a child who is eligible to begin 4-Year-Old Kindergarten next year, please ensure you complete and submit an enrolment form to the school office as soon as possible.

Siblings of currently enrolled students need to compete and submit an enrolment form.

If you have any questions regarding the enrolment process of the school, please contact the office on 9583 2500.
