Lent

This week we began the Lenten period; the most significant and important period in our liturgical calendar. We celebrated the beginning of the Lenten period with our Ash Wednesday Mass for all of the students in Year’s 3 to 6. During the Mass, Fr Christian reminded the students that Lent is a time of conversion and a time to deepen one’s faith, demonstrating and sharing it through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

All of the students in Kindy to Year 2 participated in a Ash Wednesday Liturgy. Again, Fr Christian celebrated the liturgy with the students and spoke to them about where the ashes used for the liturgy came from and how they can pray and try to be really good over the next 40 days.

Students will be learning about the significance Lent has in the lives of Catholics and will be engaging in activities which promote the life and love of God, throughout the term. Thank you to Mr Hazebroek for preparing the Ash Wednesday Mass and liturgy and to all of the staff and students who assisted in these celebrations.

'Surf Online Safely' Cyber Safety Session

The E-Safe workshop, presented by Paul Litherland, from ‘Surf Online Safely’, is on next  Wednesday 21 February, beginning at 6:00pm. Paul is considered nationally as one of Australia’s leading educators in the field of Internet Awareness and is very well known and respected within the Catholic Education network. As a former Western Australian Police Officer, Paul offers some great knowledge and experience to help parents better understand the risks children are being exposed to in the online world. This event is for parents of students of all ages, as students are accessing the internet at a very young age.

Medical Action Plans

It is that time of the year again where all documentation needs to be completed and returned to school. Could I ask that all priority is placed on parents who need to return medical action forms and anaphylaxis management forms and asthma action plans to the school as soon as possible to ensure we can provide a safe environment for the students. Thank you to those families who have already provided an updated copy of your child’s medical action plans.
