Principal's Message
Book Week Parade
Next Thursday 19 August is a very exciting day in the school; it is the day of our ‘Book Week’ parade. This year, the theme for ‘Book Week’ is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’. All students in Years PP to Year 6 are encouraged to dress up in their favourite story characters to celebrate this event.
Proceeding will begin at 8:45am in the Hall with a performance by the school choir, followed by our ‘Book Week’ parade, beginning at 8:50am.
Later in the day, the ‘Police Pipe Band’ will host a concert as an incursion for our students. We look forward to a fantastic day.
Wickepin Parade Upgrade
Work has continued on the southern side of the school, along the extension of Wickepin Parade. Land has been cleared on the school side of the street in preparation for a new footpath to be installed in the coming weeks. Reticulation and lawn will be laid, along with new retaining walls being built around the existing trees in the area. To finish it off, the boundary fence will be erected, once the developers have completed the extension of the footpath. Once finished, this will provide another entry and exit point to the school for families to use.

Year 4 First Holy Communion
The preparation continues for our Year 4 students getting ready to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion with them participating in the Preparation Mass this Sunday 15 August, beginning at 5:00pm.
State Cross Country Trials
Today we have 8 students who competed in the State Trials for Cross Country, at the UWA Sports Park. We hope the competing students enjoyed the experience and a full review of the results will be shared in next week’s Principal blog.
Inter School Sports Update
Next week some of our senior students will get to participate in some Inter School sporting opportunities, beginning with the PSSA Basketball competition being held on Tuesday 17 August at the Mandurah Recreation Centre. On Wednesday 18 August we will also have a number of senior students competing in the Primary Schools Orienteering Championships, held in Mundaring. We wish all competing students the very best of luck for both of these sports.
Athletics Carnival
All of the students across the school are training and preparing for the upcoming School Athletics Carnival, being held on Friday 27 August 2021. This week the students in the middle and upper grades have been completing the throws and jumps trials and practicing their team games. We look forward to hosting a fantastic carnival in the coming weeks.
Friday Morning Assembly
There is a whole school assembly this Friday 13 August, beginning at 8:45am, with the Year 3 class presenting an item. Parents and friends of the school community are welcome to come and join us for the assembly.
Principal's Award
This week a student has been sent to my office to receive a Principal’s Award for completing some exceptional work. I congratulate Annabelle Lampard, from Kindy B, for her outstanding work in HASS. Well done and keep up the great work!

Thank You
Last Friday the ‘Australian Primary Principals Day’ was recognised. I just wanted to say a very big thank you for the communities’ acknowledgement of this and for sentiments directed towards me for this occasion. I am feeling very blessed and humbled to be given the opportunity to be a part of this wonderfully amazing school community.
God Bless,
Daniel Gooch
